Time to leave Korea. We headed off in the morning rolling our bags down the streets of Seoul as we headed for the subway. It saved a lot of money (the subway was only 60 cents) as well as having to deal with the horrible Seoul taxi drivers. One long stairway down to lug the bags and we were on escalators and the subway the rest of the way.
We got to Beijing, found a taxi who claimed to know our hotel and headed off. Fortunately, we had a map and some sense of the general direction because the taxi driver started to head in the wrong direction. Saving face is a big deal in China, so we had to convince him to stop and ask someone (who confirmed our directions). The Capital Hotel was a bit of heaven. A 4 star hotel with CNN, huge towels, room to move and a huge bathroom.
We decided to try to get a few errands done before the “group” arrived and headed to CITS to try to get things squared away. The skies in Beijing were a milky white and the temperature was unbearably hot and humid. After a quick meeting at CITS, it started to pour- a real downpour. So, our afternoon errands got postponed and we grabbed a cab back to the hotel. We had dinner at the rooftop restaurant (20th floor of our hotel)- a great place for views, an awful place for food.
