Chengdu - Encounter with the Pandas

We took the morning and went to the Panda Breeding Center outside Chengdu. 80% of the world’s 1000 remaining giant pandas live in Sichuan Province.
They set up the China Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in 1990 to breed both the giant panda and red panda. In the morning, they have a regular feeding and it was amusing to watch them roll around and eat their bamboo shoots. John was particularly amused when one of them took a dump on the bench in his cage and then sat in it.

More errands followed- a box to send home with our Tibetan treasures, a visit to the train station to inquire about tickets to Kunming. It’s been so wonderful to have our taxi driver/now friend to help us navigate through the mess of China. Without him, we would have been lost.
Lunch at the Shu Feng Yuan restaurant.
