From Boston to Vancouver

After two hellacious weeks (make that months!), of organizing, packing, planning—we were off. John accused me of deliberately feeding him caffenated diet cokes yesterday- causing him to get no sleep last night….”Tweak”. Martin, our saving grace these past few months, chauffeured us to the airport in the beer mobile. With our two rolling bags (26” x 16”), we were ready for 2 ½ months on the road. We were already wondering what we’d jettison along the way to lighten our load.
The UA flight to Chicago was uneventful. The flight from Chicago to Vancouver had some good news- and some bad news. The good news- we got a whole row to stretch out…so John got to catch up on his lost sleep. The bad news- we had an unscheduled stop in Spokane (and the boy in front of us with awful BO)
We arrived in Vancouver—it was a beautiful, clear winter day- and we were booked in the Airport Travelodge. John steered us to the Visitor Bureau and the efficient Asian woman found us a great downtown hotel- for $89 Canadian (about $61 US)…plus a limo for $31C ($21 US). We were riding in style—unemployed in a stretch limo! Life is good. Our hotel had a revolving restaurant on the 42nd floor- so we dumped our bags and headed up to get a 360-degree view of Vancouver. After a few glasses of wine, it was takeout Vietnamese food and we had our in-room meal before crashing.
