Antalya

Time to explore another city on the coast. We said good bye to our new friends at breakfast…what charming people they were- and headed off to Antalya.

Antalya is an absolutely beautiful city. The old city is positively medieval- winding streets – with a mass of restored Ottoman houses now turned into pensions. After a quick check of three or four pensions, we settled on one for 5M lire (about $12) and found ourselves drafted into the photo shoot for their new brochure for Bacchus Pension). We posed in the lobby, walking into the lobby and in one of the rooms. We definitely won’t be on the professional modeling junket anytime soon.

After we finally disengaged from the photo shoot, we walked the city – from the old Roman harbor, now the yacht marina, to the old bazaar to the Ataturk statue to a restaurant search. Several of the restaurants are built right into the Roman walls and offer spectacular views of the harbor. We finally settled on the Hisar Restaurant and had a wonderful dinner followed by drinks at the Tutav Turk Evi Otelleri, two restored Ottoman houses with a beautiful terrace overlooking the harbor.
