We settled for the night in Sede, which was truly “seedy”. The town has exceptional Hellenistic ruins and has been completely trashed by commercialism (bars built into the walls of the ruins, honky tonk shopping arcades where the old colonnaded streets used to be).
The view of the sea was beautiful, however, and we managed to bargain for a seaside room for 11M (about $27.50). The touts were positioned all along the beach front – selling jewelry, carpets, and beach paraphernalia and trying to lure you into their restaurant. We finally caved in and ate at one of the beachside place.
