The Bosphorus cruise…. A 1 ¾ hour ferry ride up the Bosphorus with short stops at the major fishing villages. It was a relaxing way to see the city. We stopped in one of the tiny waterfront towns for a lunch at a restaurant overlooking the Bosphorus before heading back on the ferry.
We had time to hit the Spice Market and get another great local restaurant recommendation from Martin’s friend. This one took a little while to find- a few walks up and down the main drag with varying directions until we finally found it. It was truly a local dive. The first two floors were smoky rooms filled with men drinking Raki, sitting on tiny stools next to tiny tables. The third floor was a dining area overlooking the street- packed with people. After tasting the food and checking the prices, we could understand why. Appetizers for $1.00 (great spicy tomato garlic stuff, spectacular garlic yogurt) wine for 2.2M lire (about $6.00) and great kebabs.
